PADI Wreck Diver Specialty From Sub-Mission Dive School Stoke-On-Trent

The Course

Swimming around a wreck makes an interesting dive, but have you ever wondered what it would be like to add a little more excitement and explore the inside?

The PADI Wreck Specialty course introduces divers to limited wreck penetration and line-laying with specialist equipment. Divers are taught the fundamental principles of planning and executing safe and enjoyable wreck dives.

With the emphasis on safety, your PADI Instructor will help you to learn several methods of wreck navigation, along with propulsion and buoyancy techniques to avoid the hazards of silt in an overhead environment.

Course Content

The course consists of knowledge development and 4 open water dives which will cover:

  • The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of wreck diving
  • The preparation and use of lights, air supplies, special equipment, penetration lines and reels
  • Limited visibility diving techniques and emergency procedures

Knowledge Development

Knowledge Development is based on a self-study method, allowing you to study in your own time, at your own pace. Home study is backed up by an academic session with a PADI Instructor, to ensure full understanding of wreck diving theory.

Open Water Dives

Students must complete 4 Open Water dives to certify as a PADI Wreck Diver.  During these dives you will navigate and map a wreck identifying hazards, points of interest & potential penetration points. Prior to planning and executing an actual penetration dive you will practice line deployment/retrieval, finning techniques and correct line contact.

What Next?

Now that you have the taste for exciting wreck dives, why not explore those a little deeper by enrolling on the PADI Deep Diver Specialty course. Many of the less explored wrecks lie in deeper water, which require more in depth dive planning and equipment considerations. During the PADI Deep Diver course you will learn how to plan, set-up & execute deep dives with particular consideration to factors such as increased air consumption, temperature changes, shorter no-decompression limits and physiological effects like nitrogen narcosis.

If you have completed 5 PADI Specialties & the PADI Rescue Diver course and have 50 logged dives, you qualify to register as a PADI Master Scuba Diver, the highest non-professional diver rating within PADI.

Sub-mission also offers a Dive Club, where you can keep your dive skills up to date & make new buddies with people who share your passion for diving. Why not join the club on one of the many organised dive trips and social events and extend your dive season to all year diving!!!!
