The PADI Fish Identification specialty will help any diver to differentiate and identify fish species found in both tropical and temperate waters. Through an overview of Project AWARE and other preservation and research efforts, such as REEF Fish Survey Project, divers learn the importance of personal involvement in aquatic environment conservation. Course ContentThe course consists of a knowledge development session & 2 Open water dives which will cover:
Knowledge DevelopmentKnowledge development is based on a self-study method, allowing you to study in your own time, at your own pace. Home study is backed up by an academic session with a PADI Instructor, to ensure full understanding of the material. Open Water DivesStudents must complete 2 Open Water dives to certify as a PADI Fish Identification Diver. During the 2 dives you will identify & record sightings of fish, noting abundance & habitat information when possible. During each dive you will demonstrate responsible diving practices to minimize negative environmental effects. Course PrerequisitesStudents must be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, Junior PADI Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization. Minimum age is 12. All students must fill in a PADI Medical Questionnaire prior to participation.
