The Course

Do you wish you had the knowledge to adjust your diving equipment to your own needs? Would you like to know how to look after your diving kit or do minor repairs such as wetsuit tears? Do you wish you had a better understanding of how your dive gear works?

The PADI Equipment Specialty familiarises divers with the basic functions of scuba equipment and its operation. The course also covers recommendations for caring and maintaining your kit. Common problems will be discussed and how to get your dive gear serviced professionally. Although the PADI Equipment Specialty course will not certify you to repair kit, it will give you the foundation of knowledge to progress onto industry standard courses, should you wish to?

Course Content

The course consists of a knowledge development session which will cover:

• The theory, principles and operation of diving equipment.
• Routine, recommended care and maintenance procedures and equipment storage.
• Common problems with equipment and recommended professional maintenance procedures.
• Simple suggestions for comfortable equipment configurations and an introduction to new equipment.

Course Prerequisites

Students must be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, PADI Junior Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization.

Minimum age is 10.

All students must fill in a PADI Medical Questionnaire prior to participation.

What Next?

If you have completed 5 PADI Specialties & the PADI Rescue Diver course and have 50 logged dives, you qualify to register as a PADI Master Scuba Diver, the highest non-professional diver rating within PADI.
